Awkwafina
Awkwafina was an American performer and actor who started her career through clever raps that tackled gender and ethnic identities from a a boldly comic perspective. Her career then grew into Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical path as a trumpeter. Her birthplace was Forest Hills Queens, she was a child of Chinese immigrants as well as Korean immigrants. Apart from classical music and jazz, Nora Lum started to study hip-hop during her teens. Concentrating on school she majored in journalism, and women's studies in college even studying Mandarin in Beijing during a brief time. Not until after graduation did her focus shift to music. Her My Vag song, My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a huge hit via the Internet and later appeared on her first LP Yellow Ranger. This album also featured popular hits that went viral, such as body positive Queef or the winking city tour New York Bitche$. The second track linked into Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide that was published in 2015, which was a different idea. With musician and author in her portfolio, she decided to set her sights on acting in a third project. She's appeared in movies such as Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. Her breakout role was in Dude Ocean's 8 along with Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released in June.
